Skins Parties got their name from the well known British Channel 4 drama “Skins” in which teenagers are often depicted in scenes of drunken debauchery, mayhem and “people getting stoned.”
A skins party has been derived from this way of thinking and acting, with the party’s aim to “trash the host’s house”; basically allowing the participants to enter for free and “do what they want”, which is by definition alcohol and/or drugs fueled. Lots of people will be having sex, and many will be “on the rampage” throughout the host’s house, totally trashing it.
Such skins parties, although rare, are now becoming more and more commonplace with websites such as MySpace being used to advertise parties where many unexpected “gate crashers” find out about the party and make an effort to turn up. These people are there to do one thing only- to cause as much mayhem as possible.
A prime example of a skins party happened in Britain on 9th April 2007, with a girl from Sunderland where a $500,000 house was totally ruined on the inside, with $40,000 worth of damage being done!
The house was apparently in total devastation, with the mother of the girl claiming “The house has been totally raped and violated”, after returning from a caravan trip with her husband and three other children to find the wreck.
It all derived from the 17 year old girl deciding to host a “small” party for around 60 people on Easter Monday, which soon turned out to be a nightmare! Apparently, some of the girls friends at school had posted an open invitation on the Social Network MySpace.
The MySpace invitation apparently was entitled, “Unofficial Skins Party” and apparently said “Let’s trash the average family-sized house disco party”.
