The casting has been announced for footie flick Damned United, and we’re excited that a fair few heat favourites will soon be getting into their kit. It’s the new film from Peter Morgan, the writer of The Queen, and will once again star chameleon-like actor Michael Sheen, this time as legendary 70s football manager Brian Clough (ask your dad). The Leeds United players include Scottish cutie Martin Compston, who was brilliant in Sweet Sixteen, and Joe Dempsie, ie tragic Chris from Skins. Stephen Graham, who was fantastic in This Is England, will play team captain Billy Bremner, and Peter McDonald, who’ve been rooting to make it big ever since I Went Down, is another Leeds player. The Damned United tells the story of Clough’s doomed 44-day tenure as manager of Leeds, who were then the biggest club in the English football league. Let’s hope there are plenty of scenes set in the changing rooms.
Joe will be playing footballer Duncan Mackenzie.
